Donations needed for residents of Shawnee, OK

JACKSONVILLE, May 23, 2013—Donations are being taken today, for the residents of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Shawnee was one of the first towns hit by a tornado during the recent outbreak. The tornado which hit Shawnee, on May 19, has been preliminarily rated as an EF4 by the National Weather Service out of Norman, Oklahoma. EF4 tornados carry winds from 166 – 200 miles per hour.

The Shawnee tornado devastated landscape on Hwy 102, and turned over vehicles on I-40, causing multiple injuries and at least one death.

Donations are being accepted today in the Walmart parking lot, located at 1311 S Jackson Street. Volunteers suggest donations such as clothing, snacks, drinks, blankets, shoes, toys, etc.
