ANDERSON CO., October 10, 2013— Joining 4-H can be a life changing decision. 4-H is a national organization which helps young people develop life-long knowledge and skills to become engaged citizens. 4-H is a group of young people across the world that learn leadership, citizenship and life skills. The 4-H slogan is “Learn by Doing” and that is just what 4-Hers do. Youth can participate in projects like horse, livestock shows, clothing and textiles, food and nutrition, wildlife, photography, shooting sports, archery, robotics, and much more. A project can be anything you are interested in learning more about!
Members of 4-H can also participate in camps, field trips, and workshops that encourage learning through a hands-on environment. Youth meet new friends through 4-H clubs that last a lifetime. 4-H has thrived for more than 101 years in Texas and continues to grow in all 254 counties.
4-H is for kids of almost any age. From kindergarten-2nd grade youth can join as a Clover Kid member. Traditional 4-H members range in ages from 8 years old (and in the 3rd grade) through 19 years of age. 4-H has a participation fee of $20 before November 1, or $25 on or after November 1. It doesn’t matter where you live to be in 4-H. 4-H has something for everyone, in the city or in the country. There are numerous clubs that meet across the county.
If you are interested in joining 4-H or would like more information, contact the Anderson County Extension Office at 903-723-3735.
