NACOGDOCHES, July 21, 2013-- The Nacogdoches County Chamber’s Fourth Friday Luncheon sponsored by Suddenlink Communications and Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau will focus on The State of Tourism in East Texas. The meeting is from noon to 1 p.m., Friday, July 26 at Hotel Fredonia. David Teel, president/CEO, Texas Travel Industry Association, will connect the dots of travel being an important economic development tool not only locally, but statewide and nationally.
Attendees will learn how this important business sector brings new dollars into our economy.
Is the tourism industry growing in Nacogdoches County and the region?
How can my business benefit from increased tourism?
What is the total economic impact of tourism in our region?
Teel joined TTIA in 2003 after more than 23 years of service to the State of Texas. In 2010, he took the reins as President and CEO and has been actively involved in the development and implementation of TTIA’s strategic planning, public policy and legislative affairs efforts. His work with the 114 member Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus was recognized by the Southern Governor’s Association as a Best Practice in Tourism Public Policy Programs for helping to educate legislators about the needs of the Texas travel and tourism industry.
Prior to joining TTIA, Teel served as State Tourism Director under the administrations of Governors Rick Perry and George W. Bush.
The luncheon serves as the Nacogdoches County Chamber’s monthly membership meeting, but the public is invited to attend. Registration is required by July 25. Please call 936-560-5533 to register and lunch is $16.
