Crocket Police arrest man after responding to deadly fight

CROCKETT, December 27, 2013— On December 25, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers with the Crockett Police Department were dispatched to the 100 Block of Westside Drive, in Crockett, regarding a fight between two friends.

After arriving on scene, officers had to disperse a large crowd that had gathered around the residence. A short time later, officers found Frederick Scott Jr., age 23, of Crockett, lying in the roadway with an apparent stab wound to the upper left chest area.

East Texas Medical Center EMS arrived on scene a short time later and transported Scott to the hospital for the injuries that he sustained. Scott was later flown to a Tyler hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

Officers spoke with Ashton Alexander Creag, age 21 of Crocket, who admitted to stabbing Scott in self-defense. After further investigation, Creag was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon – a second degree felony.

Scott is expected to recover from his injuries.
