TYLER, October 30, 2013— Texas Commissioner of Education, Michael Williams, will visit three Tyler ISD campuses on Friday, November 1, as part of his statewide tour of public schools.
As Commissioner, Williams heads the Texas Education Agency, which oversees pre-kindergarten through high school education for approximately five million students enrolled in both traditional public schools and charter schools.
Commissioner Williams will arrive at the Plyler Instructional Complex at 11:00 a.m., to view the Tyler ISD Strategic Planning Team in action. At 11:30 a.m., he will visit classrooms at Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School before learning more about the campus-wide “Leader in Me” program. Commissioner Williams will conclude his tour with a 12:30 p.m., stop at Boulter Middle School where he will visit project based learning and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classrooms.
