LONGVIEW, April 12, 2014— The City of Longview will host a Career Fair from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, 100 Grand Blvd. The event will showcase careers available with the City of Longview from police officers to firefighters to public works and more. City departments will have information about current job openings as well as information about all other positions within City government. In addition, vehicles and equipment will be on display.
The career fair is an opportunity to learn more about the careers available in public service. According to City Manager David Willard, “Obviously, we will have information about current job openings, but really this is a great opportunity to learn about all the different types of careers that are available in public service with the City of Longview. This is a way to learn what it takes to become a firefighter, police officer, civil engineer, health inspector, or librarian.”
The event is geared towards current job seekers as well as students considering future employment. In addition to equipment displays, employees from various departments will be on hand to discuss how they serve the City of Longview in their job. This is the fourth year for the event.
The event is open to the public. For more information, please contact the Human Resources Department at 903-237-1220 or visit LongviewTexas.gov.
