City Attorney to present City Charter information at Council meeting

PALESTINE, June 12, 2014— The City Attorney, Ronald Stutes, will make a presentation before the City Council meeting on June 23, at 5:30 p.m., regarding the Palestine City Charter and a proposal to consider revising the Charter. City Council meets in City Hall located at 504 N. Queen.

The City Charter is adopted by the voters of the city and operates as the “constitution” of the city government.

Mr. Stutes will speak on the history of city charters in Texas, the history of the Palestine City Charter, how city charters are created, and how city charters can be revised. Finally, he will discuss some of the key issues that may be addressed in the charter revision process in Palestine.

The public is invited to listen to the presentation and participate in the discussion.
