Cherokee Co. search warrant leads to steroid lab discovery

CHEROKEE CO., July 25, 2014— On Thursday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m., Investigators and Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on FM-3052 in the Mixon Community near Bullard. They were assisted by narcotics investigators from Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The investigation began earlier in the day when investigators received information about the presence of a lab inside the residence. Because of the type of equipment and chemicals described, the type and purpose of the lab was not easily identified by investigators. However, during the course of the investigation throughout the day, a suspect was developed and information was learned that the suspect was possibly involved in the manufacture and use of steroids.

Once the search warrant was obtained and executed, investigators and agents found and collected chemicals, including containers of Anadrol (Oxymetholone), D-bol (Methandrostenolone), and Cialis. Lab equipment included beakers, flasks, burettes, tubing, and vacuum chambers, and notebooks containing “recipes” and outlines for the manufacture of steroids.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time, as an arrest has not been made. Officials do not have an estimate on the value of the items collected at this time, due to the rarity of the lab.
