Cherokee Co. Man convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child sentenced to 50 years

CHEROKEE CO., August 15, 2014— On August 11, 2014, twenty-three year old Pedro Yonathan Hernandez Jr. pled guilty to the charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child before District Court Judge Bascom Bentley III.  On August 12, 2014, a jury heard testimony, for purposes of sentencing Hernandez, from Detective Jonathan Hughes with the Cherokee County Sherriff’s Office and Laurie Beamon with Child Protective Services. 

The jury determined Hernandez should spend fifty (50) years in prison, without possibility of parole, for sexually assaulting a twelve (12) year old relative. District Attorney Rachel L. Patton represented the State of Texas. Rusk defense attorney Jack Sheridan represented Hernandez.
