Chamber education programs build a better workforce

NACOGDOCHES, October 18, 2013— The Chamber’s Fourth Friday Luncheon is noon to 1 p.m., Oct. 25, at Hotel Fredonia. Dr. Judy A. Abbott, Dean SFASU - James I. Perkins College of Education will present “Education and the Business Community.”

Dr. Abbott, chair of the Chamber of Commerce Education Committee leads an extensive effort to improve educational standards, teacher morale and academic climate of our community. Projects include the Leaders of Tomorrow, (LOT) Crew program, Great Expectations, NOBLE Scholars and Download the Future Career Exploration Fair.

Luncheon reservations are required and a registration form is available in Forms at nacogdoches.org. A secure “register and pay online” option is available on the website in the Hot News section or contact the chamber at 936-560-5533. Lunch is $16, and the deadline for reservations is Oct. 24. The event Gold sponsor is The Daily Sentinel.

All attendees will be entered in a $50 cash drawing, and every Chamber member is entered in a $250 drawing, but you must be present to win. Both drawings are sponsored by First Bank & Trust East Texas.
