Celebrate Smokey Bear's Birthday Aug. 9

LUFKIN, August 3, 2014— Come celebrate Smokey Bear’s 70th birthday with your family at the Texas Forestry Museum with the Texas A & M Forest Service and City of Lufkin’s Fire Department.

The birthday party will be on Saturday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be fun children’s activities, party favors, a Black Bear presentation, a fire safety presentation, and birthday cake. Also the guest of honor, Smokey Bear, will make an appearance with his friend Timber, the museum’s mascot.

Families will also be able to learn about the history of Smokey Bear with the museum’s new exhibit. This event is free and open to the public due to the gracious sponsorship of the event by the Kiwanis Club of Lufkin.

The Texas Forestry Museum, a private non-profit organization, is located at 1905 Atkinson Dr., in Lufkin. We are open from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except major holidays. For more information on the Texas Forestry Museum and its scheduled events, please call 936-632-9535.
