Call for Texas Forestry Hall of Fame Nominations

LUFKIN, April 24, 2013 -- Persons who have made substantial and lasting contributions to forestry and forest conservation in the state are eligible for consideration for the Texas Forestry Hall of Fame. The Texas Forestry Museum’s independent selection committee seeks information on citizens who performed outstanding acts or whose dedicated service over an extended period resulted in major progress in forestry or forest conservation in Texas for the honor.

Inductions into the Texas Forestry Hall of Fame occur at the Texas Forestry Museum’s annual gala, TREEmendous Celebration, slated for October 3rd. Guidelines and a nomination form are available online at http://treetexas.com/exhibits/halloffame/form/. Nomination forms are also available at the Museum.

Nominations should include a statement describing the nominee’s accomplishments and a brief biography, along with documentation. Suggestions for inclusion the Texas Forestry Hall of Fame should be directed to: Texas Forestry Museum, 1905 Atkinson Drive, Lufkin, 75901, or info@treetexas.com. To be eligible for nomination, the completed form must be returned to the Texas Forestry Museum by June 30, 2013

Past Texas Forestry Hall of Fame inductees include: W.T. Carter, Glenn Chancellor, John Courtenay, Al Folweiler, Charles Franklin, Simon Wood Henderson, W. Goodrich Jones, John Henry Kirby, Ernest L. Kurth Jr., Joseph H. Kurth, Melvin Kurth Jr., Henry J. Lutcher, Dr. Robert Maxwell, Bruce Miles, G. Bedell Moore, Kenneth Nelson, E.O. Siecke, T.L.L. Temple, Arthur Temple Jr., Clyde Thompson, Brady Wadsworth, Ed Wagoner, Dr. Laurence Walker, Jim Webster, and David Crockett Kenley. No more than three individuals are honored each year.

The Texas Forestry Museum is an independent non- profit organization located at 1905 Atkinson Dr. in Lufkin, open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except major holidays.
