ALTO, May 4, 2013--–– Caddo Mounds State Historic Site invites the public to the first in a series of Saturday afternoon programs to learn about the early technologies used by prehistoric Native Americans – the spear, atlatl, bow, and throwing sticks.
Primitive Technologies Series #1: Primitive Tools and Friction Fire Starting will take place on Saturday, May 25, at 12:00 p.m.
Activities will include classroom instruction, a hands-on demonstration in friction fire starting, a guided tour of the Caddo Mound site, and atlatl throwing for those who wish to test their skill.
There is a $2.00 charge for the program, and the fee includes a tour of the Caddo Mounds Site. Seating is limited, so please call to indicate interest in attending.
Neal. Stilley, an Archeological Steward for the Texas Historical Commission, and Anthony Souther, the Caddo Mounds Site Manager, will host the program.
