Brookshire's holds 32nd annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive

PALESTINE, November 20, 2013—Brookshire’s stores across Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, are holding their 32nd annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive. Over150 stores will participate.

Each store partners with a local service agency to locate needy families in the area. All donated food stays in the store’s local area.

Brookshire’s is collecting non-perishable food items. Donation containers are located in front of Brookshire’s and stores. Donation ideas include staples, canned goods, peanut butter, rice, beans, cereal, etc. Pre-loaded grab-bags are also available for purchase and donation. Cash donations are also accepted. Cash donations will be used to purchase gift cards. Gift cards will then be redeemed for additional food items.

“It really helps so many people who otherwise wouldn’t even have a decent meal at the holiday time and for those who are less fortunate,” said Brookshire’s Director of Public Relations Rebecca Sanders. “This is a great way to help them out…help your fellow neighbors.”

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Sanders about the opportunity. Click below for more.
