JACKSONVILLE, OCTOBER 25, 2017 -- The Annual Hay Show & Sale was held on Tuesday, October 24th, at the Cherokee County Exposition Center in Jacksonville. This annual event raised a grand total of $17,450 dollars. A total of 24 hay samples were auctioned to raise funds for scholarships for the youth in Cherokee County. The Grand Champion Hay Producer was Steve Langston, Hay Crude Protein 18.19%, purchased by Tri County Livestock for $1275. The Reserve Grand Champion was Kenny Derrington ,Hay Crude Protein 16.85%, purchased by Tri County Livestock for $625. Proceeds benefit the Cherokee County Scholarship fund, for the youth of Cherokee County attending college. Awards created by Congratulations!, were presented to the Top Hay Buyers of 2016, Heritage Land Bank, Tri County Livestock, Wayne Berry and Techline. Prior to the auction the crowd was treated to a BBQ Dinner prepared and served by the Cherokee County FFA and 4H students.
