LUFKIN, OCTOBER 18, 2017 – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to and are investigating this afternoon a one vehicle crash on US 59, just south of the Angelina River.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2016 Volvo truck tractor towing double trailers was traveling north on US 59 at about 3:30 p.m. in the inside lane. The truck reportedly drove off the roadway to the left where it struck a guard rail. After striking the guard rail the towed units jack knifed and came to rest in the grass median with rear of the truck blocking the inside lane of US 59.
The driver of the truck is identified as Robert Pittman, 50, from Kinsey Alabama. Pittman was not reportedly injured during the crash. Motorists are urged to use caution in this area while emergency crews clear the scene.
This crash remains under investigation.
