LUFKIN, October 2, 2013— Angelina College Theatre is taking the longest-running play in modern history, staging Agatha Christie’s “Mousetrap” in three performances scheduled for October 10 – 12, at the Temple Theater located on the AC campus.
All shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Originally penned by Christie in 1947, as a short radio play and titled “Three Blind Mice”, “Mousetrap” has run in the West End of London since 1952 – for a total of more than 25,000 shows. The murder mystery with its famous twist ending has those in attendance all but sworn to secrecy to prevent revealing the “whodunit.”
This production at AC will adhere to a very strict “no cameras” policy written into the licensing agreement. Therefore, audience members will be asked to shut off completely all electronic devices, including cell phones and cameras.
The play, set in post-World War II, opens in a guest house run by Mollie (Ashleigh Knox) and Giles (Taz Powers) Ralston. A snowstorm strands several visitors, one of which – according to Sgt. Trotter, is a murderer. The guests, along with the Detective and – of course – the audience, are left wondering which of the seemingly normal visitors could be the killer.
Cast members for the play include Ashleigh Knox as Mollie Ralston; Taz Powers as Giles Ralston; Joshua Weintrab as Christopher Wren; Retha Powers as Mrs. Boyle; Darrel Degraw as Major Metcalf; Bethany Knox as Miss Casswell; Clint Davis as Mr. Paravicini; and Logan Mosig as Detective Sergeant Trotter.
This production is suitable for family members. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors, students and children.
