LUFKIN, August 3, 2014— Angelina College’s Fine Arts Division has released its schedule of performances for the upcoming 2014-2015 season, with a list of events catering to every arts taste from music to visual arts to theatre. And to guarantee patrons don’t miss a line, image or beat, the Division is also offering season subscriptions at the following levels: Corporate Donor, $750 (18 tickets per show); Scholarship Donor, $500 (12 tickets per show); Benefactor, $200 (6 tickets per show); Patron, $150 (4 tickets per show); Friend, $75 (2 tickets per show); and Regular, $40 (1 ticket per show). All money from season subscribers goes toward Fine Arts Scholarships.
AC’s Fine Arts season opens in September with the AC Faculty Exhibition art gallery and concludes in May with the AC Swingin’ Roadrunner Jazz Band/ACC Big Band concert.
For art patrons, events include the AC Faculty Exhibition (Sept. 9-25); The “Mauro Manetti: Harmonium” Exhibition, featuring prints from the Italian artist (Sept. 30-Oct. 22); the AC Graphic Arts Student Exhibitions (Oct. 28-Nov. 13, April 21-May 7); the AC Visual Arts Student Exhibitions (Nov. 18-Dec. 10, March 31-April 15); the Black History Month Exhibition and Live Poets Society Recital (Feb. 3-25); and the New Drawings by Corinne Jones Exhibition (March 3-25).
All scheduled exhibitions take place in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery. The gallery will for each exhibit host an artist’s reception from 6-7:30 p.m. the first Tuesday evening of the exhibition’s opening.
AC Theatre again will deliver the entertaining, dramatic and unexpected, starting with Ira Levin’s Deathtrap (Oct. 16-18); The Dining Room, a family portrait on-stage, by A.R. Gurney (Nov. 13-15); How I Learned to Drive by Paula Vogel, winner of the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama (Feb. 19-21); and of course, the wonderfully unpredictable Outrageous Theatre!, where anything can – and usually does – happen (April 16-18).
Finally, music and dance lovers of every genre will be able to choose from numerous performances throughout the year. Kicking off the concert season will be the Faculty Recital with vocalist Charlotte Davis and musicians Karen McBee and Larry Greer (Oct. 20, 7:30 p.m., Temple Theater); AC Swingin' Roadrunner Jazz Combo & ACC Big Band Fall Concert (Nov. 18, Hudgins Hall Auditorium); the AC Chamber Winds/Lufkin Community Band in “A Winter Concert” (Dec. 7, Temple Theater); Holiday Hope and Honor, a Christmas Celebration honoring veterans and featuring the AC Chorale (Dec. 9, Temple Theater); the AC Swingin' Roadrunner Jazz Combo & ACC Big Band Spring Concert (March 3, Hudgins Hall Auditorium); Showtime! 2014, a musical revue with show-stopping numbers by the AC Singers (March 28-29, Temple Theater); the Teacher’s Choice Piano Recital (April 7, Temple Theater); Spring Spectacular featuring The Lufkin Community Band/AC Chamber Winds in Concert (April 26, Temple Theater); Celebrate America! featuring the AC Chorale (April 28, Temple Theater); and the AC Swingin' Roadrunner Jazz Combo & ACC Big Band Spring Concert (May 5, Hudgins Hall Auditorium).
