PALESTINE, April 25, 2013—The Anderson County Walk a Mile in Her Shoes will be held on Saturday, April 27.
The Walk a Mile is a men’s walk which helps to raise awareness for violence against women. According to coordinator Roger Pharr, the event “gives men a chance to stand up and say we support the women in our community, support what they do every day in our community, and support their right to live a life free of crime.”
Registered participants will don high-heeled shoes and walk from Palestine Regional Medical Center to the Palestine Mall parking lot. The community is invited to come and show support for the cause and encouragement to the walkers. Those not registered may still wear comfortable shoes and walk along in support.
Check-in for registered participants will be held from 9:15 – 9:45 a.m., at Palestine Regional Medical Center, and includes a free breakfast provided by the hospital. The Walk a Mile will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Immediately after the walk, registered participants are invited to participate in the $100 Stiletto Dash for Cash.
