ANDERSON CO., August 1, 2014— The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) is partnering with Connected Texas, Anderson County, and the City of Palestine to develop a county broadband availability and accessibility plan. The Anderson County Kickoff event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 9:30 a.m., at the Anderson County Courthouse Annex. The entire county is invited and encouraged to attend the kickoff to help develop and complete the broadband initiative for Anderson County.
Connected Texas and ETCOG are seeking community partners and input to develop a local planning team that will generate a blueprint to guide regional efforts to accelerate the availability and use of technology. The goal of the East Texas Regional Plan is to guide the creation of a more robust business environment, more effective community and economic development, improved healthcare, increased educational opportunities, and more efficient government.
The kickoff meeting will inform local governments, local businesses, schools, and residents about the purpose and process of the program and will be a first step workshop to gather critical information about internet needs in Anderson County.
