TYLER, November 14, 2013-- Texas AgriLife Extension Anderson County Office will be presenting a program on Texas Water Laws. Water is a key topic around the State, because water is so critical to life of humans, livestock, crops and around the landscape. It is important that we know as much about Texas Water Laws as possible. This program will be held at Ben E Keith located at 2019 W. Oak Street, on Tuesday, November 19, registration is at 5:30 p.m., program will begin at 6:15 p.m. There will be a $10.00 per person fee. Pre-registration is requested by calling 903-723-3735 or by dropping by the Anderson County Extension Office, 101 E. Oak Street, Palestine. Please pre-register by 3 p.m., Tuesday November 19.
The speaker will be Senior Lecturer Judon Fambrough at the Real Estate Center located at Texas A&M University. Judon is an attorney specializing in property rights, including oil and gas, wind power, hunting leases and landowner liability. He answers 1,000+ phone calls and e-mails each year and travels the state lecturing on the intricacies of Texas law. He has authored over 300 Center publications, many of them consistently among the most requested and has 250,000+ downloads yearly. Judon was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and Silver Star while serving in Viet Nam.
There will be many topics discussed that pertain to Texas Water Law. I will list a few; description of State owned surface water, many of you will be surprised on this one, use of State owned surface water, groundwater which covers two categories will be discussed as well as who owns the rights to percolating groundwater when the minerals have been severed from the surface. Our speaker will also discuss diffused surface water such as freshly fallen rainwater or melting snow. Drainage and rule of capture will be discussed and much, much, more. A meal will be provided, compliments of Citizens National Bank of Palestine, Texas.
