ANDERSON CO., November 10, 2013--Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Anderson County Office will be conducting an Affordable Housing Educational Program, Monday November 18, 6:30 p.m. till 8:15 p.m., meeting will be held at the Anderson County Annex located at 703 N. Mallard, Room 103. This program is designed to assist low to moderate income families, single moms and seniors. This event will focus on a number of programs that may assist homeowners and those that want to become homeowners.
This program will cover Home Repair small and large. This training will provide information on loan and grant applications assistance. Our speaker will discuss 502 and 504 Home Loan programs. The 504 loan program allows low to moderate income families to purchase homes in rural areas at a discounted interest rate; whereas the 502 program allows low income seniors to receive low interest, long term repair loans as well as grant dollars for repairs based on eligibility.
Each program builds on the other and are often combined to achieve the maximum benefit for each family. It is important that families learn all aspect of owning a home from the initial prequalification’s process with a bank through home repairs. This helps to prevent future foreclosures and to increase the State’s Tax Revenues.
