Additional fundraisers scheduled for injured Lindale firefighter

LINDALE, February 5, 2014— Fundraisers to help Lindale firefighter Joe Yeakley and his family with growing medical expenses have been successful thus far, according to Lindale Volunteer Fire Department Public Information Officer Aaron Munn.

Yeakley was critically injured while fighting a fire on January 17. He has remained hospitalized with severe burns and injuries.

“We’ve had support from all over the United States, but Lindale has really proven to be basically one big family,” said Munn. “I can honestly tell you that this family has grown closer and stuck together in a way that’s almost unbelievable.”

Additional fundraisers have been scheduled.

A 5K Fun Run will be held on Saturday, February 8, behind the Lindale Central Fire Station, at 9:00 a.m. No pre-registration is required. Registration will be $25.00 each.

On February 13, Chili’s Restaurant will give 10% of the total bill for anyone who informs them they would like to participate in the Joe Yeakley fundraiser.

KYYK’s Gary Richards spoke with Munn about the fundraising effort. Click below for more details.
