ACSO arrests man from Oakwood for Theft of Property

ANDERSON CO., August 01, 2014— On July 31, 2014 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Deputy Ginger Lively was dispatched to the 5000 block of W St. Hwy 294 for a burglary in progress. The caller advised dispatch a silver Ford pickup had entered the property on Hwy 294 and taken a trailer with a 1990 U-Haul truck on it. Further the caller advised the suspect had turned on ACR 2101 and was traveling north. 

An additional ACSO unit responded to the area. Deputy Herman Linam was travelling south on ACR 2101 and found the trailer with the U-Haul truck at the intersection of ACR 2108 and ACR 2101. The trailer had come loose from the suspects vehicle.

While Deputy Lively recovered the stolen trailer with the U-Haul truck, deputies located the suspect vehicle in the 7900 block of FM 1990. The suspect vehicle was a 2012 silver Ford pickup driven by Ryan Dale Odom of Oakwood. Mr. Odom admitted he had taken the trailer and U-Haul truck from the property on Hwy. 294 and it had come loose from his pickup. Mr. Odom stated he had purchased the U-Haul, however, deputies contacted the owner and were advised the Mr. Odom did not have permission to remove the U-Haul and had not purchased it.

Sgt. Bobby Bishop and Deputy Emily Parker took Mr. Odom into custody and he was taken to the Anderson County Jailer and booked on the charge of Theft of Property. Ryan Odom is currently in the Anderson County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.00.
