LUFKIN, March 19, 2013— Angelina College Visual Arts majors will display their works in a spring exhibition opening Tuesday, April 2, and running through April 17, in the Angelina Center for the Arts Gallery located on the AC campus.
A reception for the artists will take place from 6-7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 2. The gallery is open to the public, and there is no admission charge.
Students from Krysten Bailey’s Life Drawing and Robbie Lacomb Roach’s Basic Design classes will be exhibiting their works.
Ms. Bailey, the ARTS 2323 instructor, has taught Art at Alvin College, and has just returned from teaching for a year in Japan. Her own artwork involves mixed media and printmaking, and may be viewed on her website, krystenbailey.com.
Mrs. Roach, the ARTS 1316 instructor, has taught at AC for 20 years, and exhibits her prints and photography internationally. Currently she has work on exhibit in Japan and in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her work may be viewed at her website, lacombroachpress.com.
Students exhibiting from Ms. Bailey’s Life Drawing class will be showing drawings in various media. This is a course aimed at developing skill and knowledge in drawing the Human Figure. The students work drawing live models in the classroom. Those students include Ernesto de la Paz, Dona Ross Gibbs, Delesha Johnson, Stephen Martin, Sally Moses, Austin Pullin, Nicholas Sheehan, Ashten Smith and Daniel Towell.
The Basic Design course focuses on students’ compositional skills, paying close attention to the use of the Elements and Principles of Design. Students will exhibit works in various media; those students include James Allday, Jordan Bowers, Amber Bradshaw, Javier Gonzales, Ben Harkness, Kayla Humphrey, Whitney Kanke, Jade Moore, Cynthia Morones and Joseph Olige.
