Joe Robbins/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Bishop Sankey from the University of Washington became the first running back selected in the 2014 NFL Draft when the Tennessee Titans selected him with the 54th overall pick Friday.

It is the latest in any draft for the first running back to be selected.

The 5-foot-9, 209-pound Sankey will be used to help replace Chris Johnson, who was released in April.

Sankey played three seasons for Washington averaging 5.4 yards per carry on 644 rushing attempts, rushing for a total of 3,496 yards and scoring 38 total touchdowns.

The Titans traded the 42nd overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 54th pick (Sankey) and the Eagles fourth-round pick.
