(JERSEY CITY, N.J.) -- Tiger Woods won't be playing in the Ryder Cup in September and said that he needs some time before he gets back into the swing of things.
Woods suffered severe back pain throughout the 2014 PGA season and withdrew from the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone classic before failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship.
"It's probably going to be a month or two," Woods said at an event Monday night in New Jersey. "I just need to get strong. It's one of the things that when I took that fall at Firestone No. 2, I hadn't done any agility work, so that's part of the deal."
The 14-time major champion said last week that doctors advised not to play or practice, which led to him withdrawing from consideration for the Ryder Cup team.
Woods is aiming for a Dec. 4 return for his tournament, the World Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
