(PHILADELPHIA) -- Mets catcher Anthony Recker hit a three-run home run as New York (57-62) beat the Philadelphia Phillies (53-66) on Monday, 5-3.
With two on and nobody out in the seventh, Recker took a 3-2 pitch from Phillies reliever Justin De Fratus and sent it over the left-field wall. He entered the at-bat 0 for his previous 18.
On the mound, Mets starter Jonathon Niese (6-8) allowed two earned runs and five hits over seven innings. He walked three batters while striking out six. It was Niese’s first win since June 28, as the left-hander was 0-4 with a 6.04 ERA in his previous five starts.
Phillies starter David Buchanan allowed three earned runs and four hits in six innings of work.
