Nationals' Catcher Wilson Ramos Placed on the DL

Christian Petersen/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Despite his immense talent, Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos just can't stay healthy. The team has placed him on the disabled list with a right hamstring injury.

Ramos hurt his right hamstring Tuesday night after stretching out a double in the ninth inning against the San Francisco Giants. He initially thought the injury wasn't serious.

According to manager Matt Williams, a recent MRI on Ramos' hamstring showed a Grade-1 hamstring strain.

The team is hopeful that Ramos will be able to return to the lineup once he's eligible to come off the disabled list.

Ramos has had a lot of trouble staying healthy during his five-year career in Major League Baseball. At 26, Ramos has played over 100 games in a season just once. He missed 84 games this past season, 137 games in 2012, and 49 games in 2011.

Jose Lobaton is expected to start in Ramos' place, while the team has also called up catcher Sandy Leon from Triple-A Syracuse.
