(NEW YORK) -- Quarterback Johnny Manziel went in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he just didn't go as high as he expected.
Manziel was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 22nd pick, a pick the Browns obtained in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Browns parted with the 26th overall pick and a third-round pick to get Manziel.
Manziel was thought by some prognosticators to be a top 10 pick, but instead it took nearly three hours for the 21-year-old to hear NFL commissioner Roger Goodell call his name. A period of waiting that Manziel says has motivated him even more.
"I'm going to take a very aggressive mindset into it," Manziel said. "I'm going to work extremely hard to get what I want, and I know what that is. I want to win, and I want to be successful. The amount of time I put in and the heart I put into this, which I know I'm capable of doing, will tell the tale."
Manziel, who played his college career at Texas A&M, became the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy in 2012. During his two seasons in College Station, Manziel threw for 7,820 yards and 63 touchdowns while rushing for 2,169 yards and 30 touchdowns.
