Wed, 11 Jun 2014 08:18:00 +0000

Jean Catuffe/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo will be ready to play for his country in its World Cup opener against Germany Monday, according to ESPN.

Ronaldo has been dealing with patellar tendonitis and a thigh injury, which lead to uncertainty about the star forward's status for the World Cup. Ronaldo has since returned to group training.

The 29-year-old Ronaldo has scored 65 goals in 59 games this season with Real Madrid and Portugal.

Portugal will face the United States on Sunday, Jun. 22, in Group G play.
