(ATLANTA) -- Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward has been listed as day-to-day with a bruised right hand following Friday night's 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Heyward was hit by a pitch from C.J. Wilson during his first at-bat, but X-rays were negative on his hand.
"The player always wants to be back out there but that won’t be my call," Heyward said. "I’m just going to see what I can do and see how I feel tomorrow, ice it and do what they ask me to do."
Heyward is hitting just .254 with seven homers, 23 RBIs and nine stolen bases this season.
"When it happened, I didn’t feel it a whole lot," Heyward said. "It got worse quickly as time went. I got ice on it right away and I kind of knew that I had to be smart about it and take better care of it. So I went out and played ‘D,’ then came out of the game."
