Brantley Has Concussion, Likely Out Until Saturday

Ed Zurga/Getty Images(CLEVELAND) -- Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley was diagnosed with a concussion Wednesday and likely won't play until Saturday.

Brantley suffered the injury Monday when he slid into second base trying to break up a double play in the Indians 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Brantley was taken out of the game and passed a concussion test. He was in Tuesday's lineup before further tests at the Cleveland Clinic revealed the concussion.

"Michael is doing very well," Indians skipper Terry Francona said. "Everything that has been introduced to him today . . .the reaction tests . . .he's done very well. Every activity that has been given to him today he's handled without any occurrences. With that being said, the doctors, trainers and Michael think that Saturday is realistic."

The 27-year-old Brantley is having a breakout season, hitting .323 with 11 home runs, 46 RBIs, 49 runs scored, nine stolen bases, and a .391 on-base percentage.
