(WASHINGTON) -- Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, pointed the finger at President Obama's policies on Tuesday, saying that the administration has created a "human magnet" for unaccompanied minors to cross the U.S. border.
"I just don't think the administration has realized that its policies of deferred action have been, for minors, have created a...human magnet for these children to come at great risk to themselves," Cornyn said Tuesday. The Senate Appropriations Committee approved legislation on Tuesday to provide $1.94 billion in funding for the Unaccompanied Alien Children program in the coming fiscal year.
Still, Cornyn urged the president to "tell us promptly what he plans to do and how he intends to engage Congress to deal with this humanitarian crisis."
