Casey Kasem Is In Hospice Care, Daughter Retains Control of Medical Treatment

The iconic radio host, 82, has been in hospice care, though an attorney for Kerri said that a decision has not been made about whether to take him off of life support.

"This is the most difficult decision that a judge or an attorney can make. Mr. Kasem is dying and Mr. Kasem has expressed his desire to die peacefully and in comfort," Troy Martin, an attorney for Kerri Kasem, told ABC News.

"The judge found today that [Kasem's second wife, Jean's] actions have not been in the interest of Mr. Kasem. He found that Kerri Kasem's actions have been in Mr. Kasem's interest, who clearly expressed his desire to die very peacefully and comfortably in this matter," Martin said.

Recently, an L.A. Superior Court judge ruled that the "American Top 40" host, who has a form of dementia, should be fed, hydrated and medicated while a court-appointed attorney evaluated his health with his doctors. The judge also kept Kerri, not Jean, in control of medical decisions. After Wednesday's decision keeping Kerri, Kasem's daughter from his first marriage, in control, Jean lashed out outside the courtroom.

"In three days our lives have been shredded," she said, adding that the court "decided to kill my husband. It’s wrong. The courts are wrong and I’m going to hold everybody accountable and responsible because they all have blood on their hands."

Jean and Kerri have been battling over the Scooby Doo voice actor's care since May.
