iStock/Thinkstock(BREMERTON, Wash.) -- The body of 6-year-old Jenise Wright, who disappeared last week from her mobile home park, has been found.

An autopsy has confirmed her identity and on Friday the coroner ruled her death a homicide.

The remains were found near Wright's home in Bremerton, Washington, by an FBI team using search dogs, police said at a news conference Thursday.

Jenise was last seen the night of Aug. 2, her family told police. They reported her missing on Sunday night. Her parents waited a day before calling for help because they say the girl had wandered around the park on her own in the past.

The remains were found in a wooded area near the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park, where the girl lived, police said.

A criminal investigation has been opened and efforts are being made to identify a suspect in the case.
