Tyler Fire Department urges public ...
A partnership of local governments and ...
Palestine Public Library to host Battle of the Bands. Most people do not associate such events with their public library; however several libraries across the United States hold an annual teen Battle of the Bands. Teens (between the ages of 12-18) that are part of a band of at least two people, or who just play for fun, are encouraged to stop by the library for an entry form and to submit a recording either through cd, or upload a video to YouTube, and send the link to youth librarian Jamie King @ email@example.com. Please pick up forms at the Palestine Public Library. We need at least 5 bands to sign-up in order to have a battle. First place winners will receive $250.00 plus studio time, second place $150.00 and third place $75.00. Deadline to enter is June 15th. Bands will be selected and announced on June 21st. Those selected will perform in the Battle of the Bands July 6th at the Palestine Mall. Battle of the Bands is part of the 2013 Summer Reading Programming for the Palestine Public Library. The library offers a variety of programming for all ages. The Youth Summer Reading Club theme for 2013 is the Arts. Please contact Jamie King in the youth department for official rules and details, 903-729-4121.
