Confederate Veterans Memorial Plaza Parade and Dedication

The John H. Reagan Camp #2156, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Palestine, TX announces a parade and dedication ceremony to open the Confederate Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Palestine on Saturday, April 13, 2013. The parade, beginning at 10 AM, will start at the Anderson County Courthouse, travel west on Avenue A to Oak Street, and then proceed west on Oak Street to the Confederate Veterans Memorial Plaza at 600 West Oak Street. Included will be horses, cannons, and many reenactors in Confederate infantry, cavalry, and artillery uniforms. The parade will also feature ladies in period attire, SCV "mechanized cavalry" on motorcycles, and more. The plaza will honor Confederate veterans from Anderson County, the State of Texas, and from across the South. Located across the street from the current Veterans Memorial Park, the plaza will serve as a permanent place of honor and remembrance for those who fought for the South during the War Between the States. The public is invited to come out and enjoy the parade and ceremony, and to help dedicate this plaza. For your comfort, bringing a lawn chair is recommended. You may also honor a Confederate veteran by having his name, rank, and unit inscribed on a memorial brick paver in the plaza. Paver order forms and additonal information are available at www.reaganscvcamp.org. You can also visit the John H. Reagan SCV Camp #2156 page on Facebook, or contact Daniel Dyer, John H.
